Mort, PvP and more

Happy December! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.

I wanted to take a moment to update everyone on the content I'm going to be putting out this final month of 2021 and into the new year. Things are shaking up a bit in some exciting ways and my schedule is going to be shifting somewhat.

In the next week, I'll be announcing a big new project that's been in the works for some time. This announcement hopefully represents a big turning point in my career. At least, that's what I'm aiming for. It's going to be a lot of work, and I feel a bit out of my depth. But to quote the late, great David Bowie "That's when you're just about in the right place to do something exciting." More on that later.

What does this new workload mean for my daily content? My hope is to continue to post new comics here on this website every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I will continue to post bonus strips and making of content at our Patreon (which for the record is a GREAT way to support me since advertising has gone to shit across the board).

I'm going to be putting Mort on the shelf for a bit. Drawing Mort has been one of the most important things I've ever done artistically. So many of you have reached out and shared stories about caring for loved ones. Honestly, it's been overwhelming, and impossible for me to respond to everyone. Mort started as therapy for me, and sharing it with you was a big part of the catharsis it has provided. MORT feels like important work that deserves to be completed, collected, and shared with as many people as I can reach. But MORT is only a reflection of a story that's still unfolding in my real life. I've struggled the last couple of weeks to produce more of this work and I think it's because I've gotten out everything I need to...this far. The story needs time to continue. It's something I will absolutely come back to. But for now, I'm going to let it rest and breathe.

Meanwhile, I plan to return to PvP (starting today). And since I miss them dearly, I'm going to be returning to "Classic PvP" prior to our recent time jump forward. The time jump was something I did to escape the terrifying reality of the Trump era and the beginning of the pandemic. But I'm feeling more hopeful about things now. I dunno, maybe I just need these guys back in my corner again. Writing and drawing them is a comfort to me (and hopefully, reading them is a comfort to you).

So...more news next week. Take care of each other. Get vaccinated. Get your boosters. Be safe. Love from the Pacific Northwest.
